A Trauma Informed Approach

My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and solution-focused. Treatment is tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals, drawing from appropriate evidence-based modalities. You do not need to have experienced trauma, addiction, or emotional dysregulation to seek therapy. Everyone deserves a safe, supportive space to be seen and heard, and anyone can benefit from therapy.

Healing from Trauma

Healing from trauma involves exploring how past experiences, both big and small, may shape current thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, as well as how these experiences can continue to impact emotional well-being, relationships, and the nervous system. Trauma may result from a single overwhelming event or from ongoing experiences that felt unsafe, invalidating, or distressing.

This approach emphasizes safety, trust, and collaboration, allowing clients to process experiences without becoming overwhelmed. Therapy supports the development of tools that increase self-awareness, foster resilience, enhance emotional regulation, and promote a renewed sense of control and empowerment.

Addiction Therapy

Addiction therapy offers a compassionate, non-judgemental space to explore substance use and other addictive behaviours, as well as the underlying emotional, relational, and environmental factors that contribute to them. Addictive behaviours often develop as ways of coping with distress, stress, trauma, or emotional pain, and therapy focuses on understanding these patterns rather than assigning blame.

Through a collaborative and trauma-informed approach, clients are supported in increasing self-awareness, strengthening emotional regulation and developing healthier coping strategies. Therapy aims to foster resilience, self-compassion, and empowerment, supporting clients in making meaningful, sustainable changes aligned with their goals and values.

Solution Focused Therapy

Solution-focused therapy emphasizes your strengths, resources, and goals, helping you identify practical steps to create the life you want to live. Rather than focusing extensively on problems or past experiences, this approach encourages clients to envision their desired outcomes and discover strategies that move them toward those goals.

Through a collaborative and supportive process, clients build self-awareness, resilience, and confidence, learning to apply tools and solutions that work in real-life situations. Solution-focused therapy is adaptable, empowering, and can complement other therapeutic approaches to support personal growth, emotional well-being, and problem-solving.

Attachment/Childhood/ACE

Attachment-focused therapy explores how early childhood experiences, including Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), may shape relationships, emotional patterns, and self-perception throughout life. These early experiences can influence trust, intimacy, and how we relate to ourselves and others.

Through a collaborative and compassionate approach, therapy provides a safe space to understand these patterns, develop secure relational strategies, and strengthen emotional regulation. Clients learn to build healthier connections, foster self-compassion, and create supportive relationships, helping them move toward greater well-being and personal growth.

With Integrated Therapeutic Modalities including...

Psychotherapy uses evidence based modalities that are each specifically designed to address clinical needs or circumstance. While the therapeutic connection is the most powerful aspect of therapy, psychotherapeutic modalities assist in facilitating change through structure and practice.

CBT

Cognitive Behvaviour Therapy helps clients identify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours, and develop practical strategies to respond differently. It supports problem-solving, emotional regulation, and lasting positive change.

DBT

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy  focuses on building skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and healthy communication. It helps clients navigate intense emotions and improve relationships.

EMDR for Trauma

Eye Movement Desesitization and Reprocessing Therapy helps clients process and integrate distressing memories or experiences, reducing their emotional impact. It supports healing from trauma and promotes a greater sense of safety and resilience.

IFS - Internal Family Systems

Internal Family Systems explores the different “parts” of ourselves and their roles in our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Therapy helps clients understand, integrate, and harmonize these parts to foster self-compassion and balance.
